How I Get My Kicks These Days...

How I Get My Kicks These Days...

When you're a new mum, you can't party during the weekend, every weekend, anymore; not that I did, but it was very satisfying knowing I had the option. The list of things you can do, places you can go and if you're living in London and relying on London Underground or Overground, there's also a restriction on how you can get to places thanks to stairs and no step free access in many train/tube stations. I have had to be a bit more creative about how to entertain myself. Currently, I am loving:

The look on my friends (who don't have kids) faces as Coco lunges at something and they think she's going to fall
Because they look so genuinely worried and I don't. Coco and I play this game at home a lot, so I make sure to have a tight grip and my second hand at the ready too, as back up.

Lifting up her hands, waving hello and talking for her, to people
I don't why I do this, as I am sure I laughed at Mums who did this in the past, thinking it was the weirdest thing. Now I am that weird person.

The Lemon test
I have now done this so many times, she is no longer phased by it. Heres how: give baby a slice of lemon to lick or bite into (depending on their age) and watch them react to the sour taste

Laughing at her laughing
This is one of the best, her laughter makes me laugh till sometimes I am not sure who is actually laughing at who - me, Coco?

Tickles
Works every time. Then we get into the laughing game (described above).

The stanky bum pass
This is when I pass her around my friends so they can get a whiff of her smelly farts. She just giggles and they look horrified.

My Mummy jokes that are so not funny
They all involve me leaving the baby with someone and going off for hours, or turning up with the baby to a friends hen party, to be honest they're really only funny to me, they sound like a threat to everyone else.

Letting her chew on things to the dismay of friends
Yes it is OK for her to chew on your throw, better that than my dirty shoes, or my phone, or the wheels of her pram.

Playing how quickly can I have a shower
My current record is six minutes and it still feels quite long.

Conversations with Strangers
When I am out and about with Coco, people talk to me a lot. Old, young, men, women and they all have really interesting comments. I find I am never bored .

Happy weekend
