Lunch at Pancakes! Amsterdam
As part of the holiday fun times, we stopped over in Amsterdam. It was our first flight and first holiday together as a family of three. We were very light on tourist behaviour, particularly as it was a windy, cold, and snowy day in Amsterdam. When we got to our lunch destination, Pancakes!, Coco was asleep and she slept all through lunch, till we got back into our hotel - a rare, rare thing. Here's how the restaurant did:

Welcome
When we got to the door there were three groups of people in a queue. So we stood in line in the cold patiently because we were set on pancakes for lunch and this place came with great recommendations. MisterB wandered off to the shops, with Coco sleeping in the pram. When we were about one table away from being seated, I decided to check if it would be ok to come in with our pram, the answer was no problem. After, about a 20/25 minute wait, it was our turn to go in. Staff don't really talk to you until it's your turn at the door, so thats when we got a little welcome from the friendly staff.
High chair & Pram space
No high chairs. Getting in the pram in was ok, there are two steps up at the door to navigate. Once we got in, we collapsed the pram and picked up the baby in the car seat and where shown of to our seat. A few minutes later, I spotted the pram neatly packed into the corner by the stairs. I was super impressed - the UK have a lot to learn about being accommodating to people with babies, considering our treatment at Milk, see my review here. We tucked the car seat with baby by our table and proceeded to eye up the menu.
Other families dining
There were no other families or kids while we were there. But, the Creperie does advertise itself as being child-friendly, and I spotted right beside us, a bunch of little boxes of colouring pencils and a pile of cards with a drawing that doubles as post cards, so they must cater for children too.
Order
The menu is set out quite well - split into dutch style, american style, sweet etc
Our order:
Special for the day: Dutch pancake with mushroom, spinach, Camembert and pine nuts
American pancakes with bacon and syrup x2
Fresh orange juice
American pancakes with bacon and syrup x2
Fresh orange juice
Fresh mint tea x2
Food
My pancakes, the american style with bacon, were awesome. Not too sweet, even the maple syrup was a great consistency, not too thick. This bacon was crispy. I had a second plate of the exact same thing as desert. The special was also very tasty.
Service
We, and others before and after us, happily stood outside in a queue in the cold, waiting to get in. That is just how good the food is. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.

Other comments
I am a huge pancake lover so, yes, I would happily go back to Pancakes!, next time I find myself in Amsterdam. They do seem to have a quick turnover with tables, and although Staff do make you feel welcome and do not rush you out, I felt a little bit of pressure to pay our bill and leave so others outside could get our table. I guess it just means that due to their popularity the restaurant is ready for a bigger space.
