These are the Apps I have Found to be Awesome
These are the apps that I use and love. The good thing about all of these, is the price - free, so you have nothing to lose in trying them out.
Tiny Beans
This one was recommended to me by one of the Mums I met an antenatal classes. Four months later, we still meet for a catch up and also share tips.
It comes up as a calendar style and the idea is that you take a picture each day and fill up the days in each month with a new picture. You can put in comments with the pictures too and best of all, share them with friends, family or even your partner while he is at work.
Another feature this app has is a milestones tick list, so you can record the date you noticed your baby's firsts. It lists out the main skills under five categories - social, fine motor, speech & language, gross motor and cognitive etc.
Baby Feed
This app helps you record baby feeds, when they've been changed and sleep times. If you're like me and your memory has turned to mush with lack of sleep, it acts as a perfect reminder for when you last fed the baby, it will remind you when the next feed is due etc. It shows you daily, weekly, monthly averages across. You can also use it to store information on your baby's growth. It can put the information into graphs and allows you to export it to your email too. For me, if I had to recommend just one app, it would be this.
Sound Sleeper
This app produces white noise. It offers a variety of sounds, including: ocean, hair dryer, market, pond, car ride and shhhhhh. From her first week, I used this when trying to get Coco to sleep. It has now taken its place firmly as part of our nap and night time sleep routine. I believe that when she hears the ocean noise now, it confirms (she's already drowsy at this point) to her that it is sleep time and she usually fall asleep soon after. It only plays the sound for 30 minutes though, if you want it to play for a full hour or more you have to pay for an upgrade to the full version of the app. I have gotten by just fine with the 'light' version though. I probably manually extended for another 30 minutes a lot more when she was brand new. These days I'm finding I rarely need to.
Flashlight
This is one that I desperately need and have just downloaded. I have been using the light that automatically comes on when I unlock the phone, which as you can imagine, is quite tricky, and not as bright as the flashlight. I will be using this for late night diaper changes. The lighting I use at the moment is dim enough for feeding but for a diaper change I always want it that little bit brighter, cue the flashlight.
Ironically, the one baby app I paid for, is the one I use the least. It's the Go Baby app for finding your nearest changing station and stair free tube access in London. It might just be because I plan surreptitiously via the internet before I leave the house on most outings with the baby, so I don't need an app, while I am on the go. Perhaps it will come in handy when Coco is a little bit older, and I start free-styling it with outings. And if you're out and about london with the baby a lot, this is probably one you will find useful.
Happy Sunday, hope you're enjoying it.
