Embellished Midi Dress by ASOS |
It was nice to make an effort because picking outfits to put on was one of the things that was within my control in relation to my body. Bloating, nausea, etc - not so much, so I took advantage where I could. My one requirement, though, was that whatever I wore, had to be comfortable.
My biggest tip is this: shop in the non-maternity departments of your favourite stores. Just look for styles that will still flatter your shape and new curves. Theres more choice, the prices can be better, and you get a longer life out of the clothes, because you can wear them after you have had your baby.
Heres what I have found today in the women's section online at ASOS. I've gone with ASOS because they ship worldwide and do a great curve/plus size selection too, so theres something for everyone. For each option, the trick is highlighted in purple -it's the reason why that piece works for maternity, even though its not in the maternity section.
1. This would make a great day to night transition dress. A longer length at the back, gives a floaty, effortless chic look. You could put black jeans or black tights on the bottom for a more modest, but just as stylish look.

I hope this is helpful, for at least opening your mind up to the possibilities outside of 'purpose made' maternity clothes.
