Wedding Pictures Online - The Year of The Glam

For me, the wedding photographs I see online can sometimes make it seem as though the wedding industry is on steroids! There seems to be more and more 'unique' wedding ideas cropping up, from quirky engagement shoots, with 'new & exciting' themes including under-water and sky diving, to talk of personalised iPads for wedding guests programmed with songs, photos and lamented with the couples initial. If you visit wedding websites or follow some wedding accounts on Instagram, you know what I am talking about.
There are a number of really awesome, global, wedding websites dedicated to providing wedding inspiration, showcasing the best wedding dresses, and the piece-de-resistance - featuring real weddings from around the world, with pictures of the couple throughout their special day. They can be really useful - I did not have a Wedding Planner so I got quite a few ideas on colour themes, wedding planning apps and such, from these websites, when I was planning my wedding. Since my wedding day came and went, my enthusiasm for these wedding websites, has dropped. I no longer enjoy looking through these photographs, the way I did in the past. I couldn't see what I used to get excited about back in the day. I couldn't get past all the detail, it was literarily distracting from the couple. I think I might be suffering from wedding glam pictures overload.
What I am not so in love with, and I may be guilty of talking like this too, is when wedding articles use words like best or most xxx, in relation to weddings. Every wedding is unique and beautiful, just by having these two people committing to each other, and we take away from that when we qualify them as better or best, compared to another wedding - it's really not about that.
When I do look at wedding pictures now, I try to look past all the glitter and accessories and blah blah and just look right at the couple. When you strip away all the glam and the noise of the details and props, you can almost feel the couple's joy and excitement, just by looking at the images of the couple! Their expressions as they say their vows, while they dance or just watching them during the speeches. It gives me goose bumps, and I can't help remembering the high I was on with MisterB the day we got married
With valentines day looming, it's nice to think about love without the pressure of a 'love day' and just think about the bond that two people have, the joy of spending time together and the possibility of giggling, laughing and being silly together, every so often, just because!
That feeling of excitement I had on our wedding day was intense. I didn't feel nerves - I was ready for the day to unfold after months of planning. The day was perfect, and it was perfect because it was our day! At the end of the party, we held hands as we walked up to our suite and I remember feeling extreme tiredness and extreme joy.
The link below is an engagement shoot from my wedding planning inspiration folder. This shoot is 'IT' for me. It's simple, but you can feel the love radiating between the couple.
Happy Hump day
