Golden Tip - For When Loud Is Scary

Golden Tip - For When Loud Is Scary

Happy Sunday Everyone! Hope you had a good week and are getting in some relaxing time as a family this weekend. I wanted to share a little tip today in a new series for Sundays. These will be short posts with one tip from my experience of caring for Coco. This first one is for getting her cool and calm, when she's scared of a loud noise.

At about 4/5 months, Coco would get quite scared of loud noises. The flush of a toilet, the gushing sound as I poured out her bath water, the blender noise, are some examples. She trembles, has a very scared look on her face and gets so frightened sometimes, that she screams and cries.

Heres what I do to help.  I usually hold her before I activate the button or action that will start the noise. When the noise begins, she is right beside me, can see the source of the noise, which I am usually pointing towards and hears my calming voice reassuring her that 'hey, its just water'/ 'I'm just pureeing your lunch'.

Not quite 'magic', (how many things in motherhood really work like that), but it has been a big help. Getting her used to the blender noise, is still work in progress, and to be honest, I am sympathetic as the noise is a not just loud, but shrilly too, that I sometimes worry it's on the verge of packing up, haha. But for the other two noises mentioned above, she is just fine with now.

I would love to hear what works for your little one when they're frightened of loud noises. Share share share, please.

Happy weekend.
