Great Tips For Handling Your Newborn Baby

When I was younger, I spent a lot of time with babies. I have two younger siblings with quite a gap between us and I loved babies, so every opportunity I got  o hold one I took up and held on for as long as possible. I was the colic mums dream, basically.

But when I was pregnant with Coco, I realised that I did not actually know the right way to hold a baby - officially. I did not know, for example, that you can gently roll baby to the side and pick her up, or that it is perfectly OK and even a good thing to hold baby in the football-hold, especially if she is colic. Or that carrying a baby over your shoulder counts as tummy time.

I didn't realise that for my own good, I had to be particular about how I picked baby up from the cot, doing it with the right posture, so I didn't get back-ache. And I certainly was not aware about flat head spot - which babies are now more susceptible to, since the advice to put them on their backs to sleep was issued.
