Coco At Six Months - Her Favourite Things!

Coco At Six Months - Her Favourite Things!

How crazy is it to think that Coco is now six months? That was the milestone I was referring to in this postI would have organised a milestone party complete with outfits - mine and hers, but I have a partner who, shall we say, brings me back to earth and advocated celebrating 'small' instead. The emotions I felt were anything but small - oh happy day!

The last couple of weeks have been full on for Coco, developments wise, with some many new skills picked up. She is a lot more active and curious -always exploring and discovering non-baby friendly territory. She is also very wriggly, as she wants to touch everything and off course, put them in her mouth, so its tricky to go out and just hold her in my arms, say at a cafe - she's to interested. She started to crawl too, first backwards and then a few weeks later learnt to go forwards, so that has been really fun to watch.

Here's what this little half-a-year bean loves these days:

Drinking water & finger food: She literarily lunges at the cup once she spots it. She's less interested in purees and happier with pieces of real food.

Face to Face: Once she's at eye level with me, or anyone else, she starts to touch their face. She's got sharp nails though I cut them weekly, so I feel sorry for her victims (those carrying her and smiling at her until she digs her nails in).

In the air: I joke that she has an appetite for danger. She loves being thrown up in the air, or just being held up high.

Tickle Tickle: She's very ticklish, and will actually squeal - such a delightful sound!

Sing-a-song: She absolutely loves being sang to. Any song, really. I like to think she's partial to the made-up songs I sing though, they have been on repeat since she was little.

Shiny objects: Including mirrors, glasses with drinks in them. Last week she stood in front of the mirror (with me helping her to keep her balance) and was blabbering away to herself for a good five minutes.

Bath time: She splashes, she rolls, she loves this so much.

Daddy dancing routine: He does some funny dance moves with hand gestures and in turn she chuckles and demands for more. I have tried similar moves, but I don't get the same reaction.

Phones, electronic devices and remote controls: She literarily dives to grab these and then presses on the buttons.

Out and about: She loves looking around while being pushed in her push chair or driven in a car. She usually falls fast asleep after a while - bonus!

On the floor, indoors: She enjoys being on the floor where she is free to explore. I usually give her a basket of toys to choose from but she is always more interested in everything else but the toys.

Shoes and bags: These are her favourite to find on the floor and chew on. Especially if they have shiny buckles or zips or long straps (on bags).

Watching me cook: I think we have a budding chef on her hands. She is quiet, attentive and content in a sling while watching me cook. Sometimes I put her in a high chair facing me but she complains after a few minutes. She likes to be right where the action is. I have to watch though, because she has tried to grab the long handle of a pot once before.  I don't really tell her what I'm doing, I just get on with it, but she seems entertained by the colours, the chopping, the sizzling pans and the smells.

The sound of her voice: As I write this (Monday afternoon), she is making a lot of noise. It sounds like singing, with a bit of screaming, laughing at her own jokes and blowing raspberries in between.

On her feet: At every opportunity she tries to get on her feet. It started with pressing her hands into the floor and just getting her feet flat on the floor, from being on her knees (planking/downward dog position). Now she will lean on slightly taller objects and try to get fully upright. If you hold both her hands, she can take steps and looks so very pleased with herself.

Bubbles: Can you blame her - who doesn't love bubbles?

Happy Monday.
